My name is Cynthia Lavrenz (nee Fredrickson) I was born in a small rural community in Hubbard, Iowa. I was baptized just days after my birth in Hubbard at St. Johns Lutheran Church. That day my journey began. And it has taken various and interesting paths. I attended kindergarten through twelfth grade in Hubbard. After my high school graduation in 1979 I was trained for and worked in the floral industry and then as an Emergency Medical Technician until 1995.
I have been happily married to “Tim” with whom I have been friends since the fourth grade! He and I attended the same school and church. United in marriage on April 6th, 1985, our faith journeys converged. Our first years together were spent in Iowa. The spring of 2010 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Garden City, Kansas. We anticipate many more happy years together.
In 1995, both Tim and I both resigned our jobs, sold our home in Marshalltown, Iowa and journeyed to Seward, Nebraska. I enrolled full time at Concordia University. For 3 fast-paced years, I took classes year round to complete my on site schooling. The summer of 1998 my faith journey brought me here to Trinity, Garden City for a year of internship. I received a Divine Call from this congregation in March of 1999. I graduated from Concordia University in May of 1999 with a Director of Christian Education/Family Life Minister degree.
This past summer I celebrated 10 years as being a called servant here at Trinity. My faith journey continues; I enjoy working in team ministry as Family Life Minister/DCE.
I realized early in life that I am accountable to God for the way I live my life and use the gifts He has given me. By the grace of God I walk faith journey with my Savior and value the daily guidance He gives.
I understand my personal mission statement to be:
“As clay in the Potter’s hand, He shapes me to serve a broken world
by sharing Christ with love and laughter.” |
